B-Quartet

So I managed to convince the boys to let me put up the live version of their take on the Muppets' classic 'The Rainbow Connection'. The cover segues into their own 'Beautiful Crash'. This is taken from the album launch last February. Time flies by too fast.
The link is on the right column.
The photo is taken in June 2007, I think. And you can even see a pre-NS Adam hovering in the background. Check out the 'fro man!
U2 - No Line On The Horizon (live)
I really love this. Way better than most of the crap they churned out for the past 2 albums. Much better than the singles 'Beautiful Day' and 'Vertigo'. And HEAPS better than 'Get On Your Boots' which is a godawful mess of mixing, I felt. I still like the Pop album though. Was cute, at least.
Björk - Isobel (Eumir Deodato Mix)
Really good remix done by Eumir Deodato who has worked on Björk's albums before. An old remix but nonetheless, damn good. Makes me wish I've the budget for a full orchestra.
Fave Lego figurines

Check out the list here. The one in black was probably my favourite mini-figurine. Very bad-ass in all black.
They don't make Lego like they used to. These days, they come almost all built up. Where's the fun in that?

Penn & Teller: Bullshit!
I love their shows as magicians. Apparently, they've reinvented themselves a few years back on a TV show which they debunk myths, urban legends, the Bible, world peace (which was really good) and what seems to be in this episode: the war against profanity.
It's really funny stuff. I like it.

Wicked Aura Batucada - Fight
FIGHT, which was shortlisted for the BBC's Next Big Thing, is also a milestone in Wicked Aura's history as they venture into new sonic territories. The track mixes unique Afro-Brazilian sounds with hard rock and elements of Balinese "Kechak".
Wicked Aura's Debut Album "LOUDER THAN LIGHT" is now available everywhere.

Cold War Kids - I've Seen Enough

It's a decent song. Very cool video. It's an interactive video. Check it out. Taken off Kanye West's blog.

Soundtrack For A Book

When I heard Concave Scream was recording an instrumental album, I wasn't that crazy about the whole idea. I'll pay good money to hear the 2 of them sing!
And I've the good fortune of hearing 2 tracks in advance last year. Heh. But the whole packaging for the new album Soundtrack For A Book is really cool. It's basically a recycled book with the CD inside being bound by a bolt and nut. Yeah, it sounds weird. Check out the following photo.

Every book comes with its own unique serial number. I took up an old book from the Hardy Boys series and the serial number is 0069. Hahaha. And you can "own" the book at their revamped site. Weiyuan took book 44 'The Call Of The Wild' and we got Yeeyong Book 4 cause he was in the same class in junior college with the computer programmer who did the website. Heh.
TODAY's Chris Toh's review can be found here.
Surrogates trailer
Bruce Willis' still the man. And he's even got a role which allows him to wear a wig for a reason. Cool eh?
Like everything Hollywood churns out now (except for the upcoming Bruno flick), it's based on a graphic novel. Read a review here.

Stoned Revivals - The New Way
Probably still my favourite Singapore band. Was very happy that they contributed a track to the For Good compilation at the very last minute. Strangely but not surprisingly, it became the breakout hit. This, I believe, is the slightly reworked version of the one they put out. The video is super simple in concept but pretty good.
Manic Street Preachers - Jackie Collins Existential Question Time/ Peeled Apples (live)
Live on Later With Jools Holland. Jools Holland interviews Nicky Wire here. Honestly, I thought the album would have sounded much dirtier and raw, considering that Steve Albini worked on it. Hmm... but at least, from what I've heard, it didn't sound as fake as Know Your Enemy.
Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen TV spot
Check out the small bit where the Constructicons merge to form Devastator. Woo hoo hoo... The rest of the TV clips can be found here.

Journal For Plague Lovers

I didn't even know that they (Manic Street Preachers) came out with a new one!!! I vaguely remember Billy telling me about this.

Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse Present: Dark Night of the Soul

David Lynch provides the artwork for this album. How cool is this?! But EMI decides not to release it due to a dispute with producer Danger Mouse.
But it's all cool. You can stream the tracks here. Check out the guest appearances: Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips, Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals, Jason Lytle of Grandaddy, Julian Casablancas of The Strokes, Frank Black of The Pixies, Iggy Pop, Nina Persson of The Cardigans, Suzanne Vega and more!
Holy shit, innit?
Threadless slogan competition
Sapport me a bit!!!
I've just joined the Threadless.com slogan competition for the fun of it and yeah, winning USD$500 is pretty cool as well. Click here and make me a richer man. Yeah, it's an old slogan I came up with like 5 years which Yeeyong turned it into the official MrMisse T-shirt which I never bought. Ahem...
Sapport my bid for world domination here!!!
B-Quartet
Every society needs its bards, who can distil the spirit of the times and churn it out in the form of spellbinding lyrics, beats and melody.
Common People kick it with B-Quartet, a Singapore-based band of brothers who blend progressive rock, metal, jazz and funk together with searing emotion and tight songwriting to create their personal brand of musical expression.

He Can Jog

So can I but I haven't done so for a while.
In any case, I've been listening to He Can Jog which is the moniker for Brooklyn sound artist Erik Schoster. He Can Jog churns out electronic glitches and ambient music. It's pretty good. His 2008 album Middlemarch is not groundbreaking but really quite excellent stuff.
Check out his official site. There are a couple of free downloads there.
Megan Fox has it good...

Life is much easier when you are Megan Fox. How many peeps can claim that they make REALLY good money to wear as tight as possible to bend over macho machinery?
Not me.

In any case, if you feel like you really need to know what happens in Transformer 2: Revenge Of The Fallen, check this page out. As in, really everything. The page contains the movie summary though it could be a fake one.
In any case, the basic premise of the sequel is this:
In the beginning, the Allspark created the Primes, the first 13 Transformers, and they created a device to extract energy from suns, which was powered by the Matrix of Leadership. They searched for suns to harvest, vowing not to destroy suns that provided life to any orbiting worlds.
So when the Primes found ancient Earth, they chose to leave it untouched - except for the Fallen, who rebelled because he wanted the Matrix for himself. The other twelve Primes hid themselves and the Matrix in a tomb, and the Fallen searched for it. Only the last Prime, Optimus, could stop him.
I can't wait to see Michael Bay to blow more shit up!!!

Mono
Errol and Lesley who runs the KittyWu Records label is distributing Mono's latest album Hymn To The Immortal Wind. I'm not a fan but from what I heard from Edwin and Bryan about their live show at Zouk last year, it was ear-bleedingly loud.
Get the album from the Wus at kittywurecords(at)gmail(dot)com.
The Japanese post-rock band just did a 10-anniversary show in New York City with an orchestra. That idea just rocks and well, I'll love to do it too if given the chance. Here are some photos and live footage. It's heartwarming to see a predominant American crowd responding so well to an Asian band.

Ghostbusters The Video Game trailer
What the fuck?! It doesn't come out on the PSP platform but it does on Nintendo DS?! What the hell?!
I'm seeing this as a very strong crimp on the next Lard Brothers album when we go to Weiyuan's house for recording. When we were mixing down the Great Spy Experiment remix, we started playing Resident Evil 5 half-way through. Let's just say nothing much got done and we left in quite a few mistakes which we overlooked (or in this case, overheard - isn't it wrong usage?) in the 'final' mix.
How embarrassing.

Big Japan - Eraser (live)
Adam Brody who used to star in the O.C has an indie band formed with a couple of buddies. He bangs the drums. You can check out Big Japan's stuff here. Though there's nothing much for you to do now, just keep your day job as an actor.
Bret Harrison, star of Reaper (which I like a fair bit) plays lead guitar. I wonder if the SG or the eBow are vessels to send souls back to Hell... Hmmm...
Burial + Four Tet

Wah... Serious? Apparently, they are collaborating on more stuff which is coming out in the next few months. Check it out here.
It's Thom Yorke's wet dream come true.

Depeche Mode remix contest

I swear this is the latest craze but it's a great way of generating publicity and some sales. One of my all-time favourite acts, Depeche Mode has started selling their stems of their latest single 'Peace' online. Check it out here.
Rafi is taking part and his remix is on his MySpace page here. Dunno if I should join in the fun as well. Hmmm...

Pink nails

When indie kids stop mucking around in bands and settle down for a normal family life, they produce indie offsprings. Sara, above, is the spawn of Serenaide's Pheyroz and Mimi.
The cutest thing I've seen in a while.

Unknown pleasures...

Was out with Billy and Aaron for a Happy Hour beer before Robin joined me for a dinner of, what else, steamboat.
In any case, Billy and I are considering to get an ink each to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our bromance. Well, it's still 2 years shy of the actual year but we can always plan early. It could even be a matching one.
It's sooooo gay, I know... An idea is to do the cover of Joy Division's seminal album Unknown Pleasures. All I hope is that you don't do the black areas around the design like what Rage Against The Machine's bassist Tim Commerford does. It's too brutal for me. I've a low threshold of pain.

Check out my good friend, the ex-man whore, Noel's new ink here.

Yeah, I've just gotten an account to see what the fuss is about. And of course, due to Billy's very convincing statement. Follow me here.
I feel like a Doomsday cult leader for saying that. Hmmm...
Yeah, Stoya's on it too...
The Glitch Mob
As recommended by Irman, these guys are really quite good. Check them out here. They have a couple of remixes out and a couple of their own tunes. Lovely stuff.

The Grudge game trailer
I remember playing 'Fatal Frame' on XBox years ago. I nearly peed my fuckin' pants while going through the game. And it was in a friend's gaming shop with all the lights on. I think we nearly clutched each other in fright. It was that good. Weiyuan had the game (the sequel, I think) on when he was doing a housewarming party years back. It was still pretty freaky even when we were drinking absynth at the time.
The Grudge looks like it could be the same. I wonder if the game will come out on the PSP platform?
